UAM means ‘From me’ in Julie’s native tongue Gaelic. It’s a fitting title for the folk singer who hails from North Uist in the Outer Hebrides.
Thig am Bàta (The
boat will come) is a rhythmic gem while A’ Chatrion’ Og (Young Catherine) is
sorrowful yet serene. The one bit
of English comes whem Eddi Reader joins on a masterful take on Wind and
Rain. These traditional songs
represent lost souls calling across the centuries and are sung in a voice as
pure as the Hebridean air.
Spellbinding.
