Julie Fowlis, Cuilidh
(Spit and Polish/ Shoeshine)

It's almost impossible these days to get a theasaurus to come up with a term for describing the crystal purity of the type of female gaelic voice possessed by Julie Fowlis. You can hear everynote as it trips off her tongue and makes it's magnificent journey to your ear. "Cuilidh" enchants and captivates.

Featuring a host of established and rising stars of folk music, including Chris Thile, taking a break from bluegrass. The sleeve notes provide translation of the songs, it's welcome but un-necessary as "Cuilidh" is more than capable of taking you to your own hiding place.
